Valencia hosts the 6th PINsight event
25/03/2025. Opentop, the innovation hub of Valenciaport, hosted the sixth edition of PINsight in Valencia— a monthly event organized by the Port Innovators Network (PIN) that fosters the exchange of open innovation.
This hybrid session brought together over 50 professionals from the international port-logistics sector. The event focused on a key industry challenge: the traceability of hazardous goods, and showcased an innovative solution developed and prototyped in Valencia by the startup Synnect. The solution is based on artificial intelligence, computer vision, and digital twin technology. The session underscored the importance of sharing scalable, interoperable solutions among ports and reaffirmed PIN’s role as a global bridge for port innovation.
Opentop, the innovation hub of Valenciaport, hosted the 6th edition of PINsight, the flagship event of the Port Innovators Network (PIN).
The event attracted over 50 participants from across the port-logistics ecosystem, connecting physically in Valencia and virtually from hubs in Canada, Germany, Argentina, the UK, the US, and beyond.
The session opened with insights from Juan Manuel Díez, Head of Innovation at the Port Authority of Valencia, who presented one of the sector’s most pressing challenges: tracking and monitoring cargo, particularly hazardous goods.
Díez emphasized the critical need to connect existing data with real-time tools to ensure both safety and efficiency in port operations. He also highlighted the importance of integrating diverse data sources—from camera systems to port management platforms—to achieve a comprehensive view of the operational environment.
The spotlight then turned to Synnect, a software company currently piloting an innovative solution at the Port of Valencia. Their platform combines AI, computer vision, and digital twin technology to offer advanced traceability of hazardous goods—without the need for additional hardware.
Designed with scalability, interoperability, and robustness in mind, the solution easily integrates with existing port infrastructures and is now evolving toward a large-scale operational system.
PIN brings together a global community of port innovation hubs spanning three continents, with members such as Opentop, homePORT, The PIER, Cubo Maritime & Port, SmartportLab, 2050 National Maritime Innovation Hub, and the Blue Economy Incubator at the Port of San Diego.
