Agenda and topics of the next Port Entrepreneurship International Congress (PEIC) 2024 powered by Opentop
02/10/2024. On October 23 Opentop, Valenciaport’s innovation hub, will hold a new edition of the Port Entrepreneurship International Congress (PEIC) within the framework of the Valencia Digital Summit. If you want to attend, write to hello@opentop.es.
Mar Chao, president of the Port Authority of Valencia, will inaugurate this event that will bring together global port and maritime innovation ecosystems in a day dedicated to exploring the future of the sector.
This top-level event will feature personalities of the stature of Mare Straetmans of Platform Zero, who will deliver the first keynote of the event “Driving port-maritime innovation with talent and entrepreneurship”.
One of the first round tables will focus on PIN (Port Innovators Network), of which Opentop is a founding member. At the table we will have representatives of the other members as the representation of another of the founding members, Dr. Phanthian Zuesongdham, Head of Division Port Process Solution of Hamburg Port Authority, homePort. Also participating at this table will be the third founding member, The PIER, represented by Mike Davie, Vice-President, Operations and Technology of Halifax Port Authority, The PIER. On the Opentop side, we will have Salvador Furió, Deputy Director of Fundación Valenciaport. We will also have the last PIN member, represented by Eduardo Valença from Cubo Maritime & Wilson Sons.
In the PEIC we will also have Dr. Jo North, Innovation Ecosystem Director, Port of Tyne, participating in a Fireside chat, “When the industry meets startups”.
In between these round tables and keynotes, we will also have the opportunity to hear pitches from the technology companies that have been part of the Business Growth Program this past year: Sciling, Now Systems, Hydros Power and Synnect Technologies.
In the afternoon, we will be able to listen to Daniel Buttjes, Head of Venture Building at HHLA Next, among others, in the talk “Innovation Lighthouse: Supply chain efficiency” with interesting pitches from industry experts.
Experts such as Sriram Giridhar from HHLA NEXT and Joshua Gold from TMV will share their vision with other relevant guests in a panel discussion on the reasons for the growing interest of venture capital firms in the port and maritime sector.
Ekke Van Vliet from EIC Fund will share a keynote with Emmanuel Garcia de la Peña, Koalalifter on “How can public funding support maritime entrepreneurship?”
