Opentop will hold an international congress on port entrepreneurship at the Valencia Digital Summit

  • Opentop, an initiative led by the Fundación Valenciaport, presents the conference under the name of Port Entrepreneurship International Congress, to be held within the framework of the Valencia Digital Summit, the international technological event of reference in the Valencian Community

  • The event, unprecedented in the sector, will have the participation of ports and international organizations such as the Port of Hamburg, the Port of Halifax, and organizations such as UNCTAD, IAPH, and the World Economic Forum

  • The objective is to analyze challenges and opportunities in the port logistics sector, discuss innovation in the blue economy, and analyze strategies of national and international companies to grow hand in hand with the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

On October 26th Opentop, Valenciaport’s innovation hub, will hold the Port Entrepreneurship International Congress as part of the 6th edition of the Valencia Digital Summit, the international technological event of reference in the Valencian Community, to be held in the City of Arts and Sciences.

    This new edition of the VDS under the theme “Building the Good Future” will show how technology, innovation and digitalization are building, transforming and positively impacting society and what role they have in addressing major social and economic challenges. Organizers expect to exceed 12,000 in-person attendees from more than 80 countries and gather an investment pipeline of more than €8 billion.

    The VDS will be held on October 26 and 27 at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain, where Opentop will also host the first day of the conference.

    Opentop presents: Port Entrepreneurship International Congress

    From 9:00 to 17:30 in the afternoon there will be a debate on different current issues around the role of the port, logistics, innovation, and the importance of entrepreneurs and startups to grow and evolve with and for the sector.

    The objective is to analyze the current challenges and opportunities of the port logistics sector, discuss innovation in the sector, the blue economy, and analyze success stories and strategies of relevant actors in the sector to grow hand in hand with the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

    The day will include round tables, conferences and presentations by executives from the Port Authority of Valencia, State Ports, and experts from ports such as Hamburg (Germany) and Halifax (Canada) and other innovation hubs, and will be attended by representatives of the European Commission and international organizations such as the World Economic Forum (WEF), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH). In addition, major investment funds and experts from Brazil, Canada, Germany, Israel and Spain, among others, will participate.

    Among the topics of the round tables and conferences are “Challenges and trends in the maritime, port and logistics industry”, “Port innovation strategies: The role of startups”, and “Investing in emerging technologies in ports”. 

    International investors, corporations and entrepreneurs will share their experiences innovating and investing in the sector. Participating startups, including those powered by Opentop, will present in the pitch session their solutions to the technological and business challenges identified in the previous sessions.

    In addition, the initiative will expand details of its next program where it will connect large port logistics corporations with cutting-edge solutions from the startup ecosystem.

    Antonio Torregrosa, general director of the Fundación Valenciaport, will close this event to share the main conclusions, challenges and next steps to promote innovation in the sector.

    Opentop will be present throughout the event with its own stand within the Valencia Digital Summit event where the initiative will share its upcoming activities and programs to continue generating opportunities and growth among large industry corporations and startups.
