  • Canonical Green, Sensing Tools, DMS Logistics and Gandolapp presented the pilots developed in the last months together with the port-logistics industry
  • «Opentop is a tool at the service of companies in the port logistics sector», Antonio Torregrosa, Director General of Fundación Valenciaport

29/09/2023. Yesterday, Thursday 28th September, the Demo Day of the I Opentop Acceleration Program took place, an event in which the proofs of concept and commercial solutions developed by the four accelerated startups: Canonical Green, Sensing Tools, DMS Logistics and Gandolapp… were presented to the industry. The initiative, led by the Fundación Valenciaport together with its strategic partner, Telefónica Open Future, shared with optimism the incipient success of open innovation in the logistics-port sector.

The event, which was held in the Veles e Vents space within the Port of Valencia, brought together professionals from the port logistics sector interested in innovative solutions to the challenges facing the industry, the Opentop community, investors and the innovation ecosystem.

Antonio Torregrosa, General Director of the Fundación Valenciaport, kicked off the event by highlighting that «Opentop is a tool at the service of companies in the port logistics sector, which can incorporate new technologies and innovation from startups into their business through their participation in the programme, supporting and collaborating directly with the people who lead technological disruption: the entrepreneurs. We are very proud of the results that the four startups in the programme are going to show us».

Afterwards, each of the startups presented the work developed during the 6 months of the programme. In addition, Andrés Saborido, Global Managing Director of Wayra, shared with the attendees his extensive experience bringing the startup ecosystem closer to the industry and obtaining great successes in open innovation such as those presented by Opentop at the conference.

The pilots developed by the startups

Canonical Green, which has worked on the solution to the challenge posed by Boluda Corporación Marítima, has presented a tool to optimise the navigation routes of ships, reducing their carbon footprint, reducing fuel consumption and saving time and costs.

Sensing Tools, for its part, has launched a tool integrating different data sources tested with the Port Authority of Valencia, to create a substantial improvement in the prediction and calculation of traffic in ports, and which is also applicable to other environments such as airports, smart cities, etc..

DMS Logistics, presented its validated tool with the mentoring of CSP Spain. Based on Artificial Intelligence, it predicts the dwell time of a container in the terminal, helping to improve and reduce the number of removals or unproductive movements of containers.

Gandolapp, for its part, has shared the results of its proof of concept carried out in the Port of Valencia in collaboration with the road transport company Logística Chema Ballester and the CSP Spain container terminal. The startup has created a tool for improving the overland movement of trucks, interconnecting terminals with trucking companies and other stakeholders.

The pilots developed by the startups

The four selected startups have been part of the Opentop acceleration program where, for 6 months, they have had access to the Port of Valencia business cluster and funding sources, have benefited from strategic connections with potential partners, access to high-value networking and mentoring, specific personalised support in different areas, etc., to enhance the growth of the business project.

Telefónica Open Future’s investment ecosystem has also been made available to the accelerated companies to expand financing options, as well as access to the Port of Valencia’s business cluster to create synergies and validate their projects, as detailed in yesterday’s conference.

In addition, the initiative has facilitated the presence of startups in ecosystem events such as 4YFN, The Next Web, South Summit in Madrid, eMobility Expo World Congress, Forinvest, Valencia Startup Awards, among others; where they have been able to build different synergies and collaborations. All of them will soon be present at the Opentop event to be held as part of the València Digital Summit «Port Entrepreneurship International Congress», about which the initiative will provide more information very soon.
