12/06/2023. Opentop, Valenciaport’s innovation hub, was once again present at the South Summit, the largest entrepreneurship and innovation event of the year, representing and promoting open innovation in the port logistics sector to institutions, international investors, large corporations, public entities and entrepreneurs.
The initiative has been present during the three days of this event in Madrid, from June 7 to 9, 2023, receiving at its stand all the international visitors who have been approaching during these three days, interested in open innovation in the port logistics sector, and how Opentop can help both startups and corporations and agents in the sector.
Opentop’s participation in the South Summit
Salvador Furió, Director of Innovation and Development of the Cluster of Fundación Valenciaport kicked off Opentop’s participation in this edition of the South Summit with his intervention in the talk «Fueling the Future: Possibilities of Hydrogen» sharing a table with Daniel Sobek of 1s1 Energy, Tamara Guerrero Cervera of Protio Power and Amós Fuentes Mellinas of Navantia, in a conversation in which the challenges and opportunities of hydrogen were identified and where Opentop and the Fundación Valenciaport were able to contribute the port logistics perspective.
The opportunities identified were the essential role of decarbonization in all sectors, the long-term storage of hydrogen, and the use of existing infrastructures. On the other hand, challenges included the possibility of improving capacities to be competitive and respond to market needs, as well as the challenges in the transport and large-scale distribution of this fuel.
The initiative highlights from the South Summit experience the great interest generated by Opentop’s bet, which opens the doors to startups in a sector full of opportunities such as port logistics. Especially in recent times, it is a sector that is firmly committed to investing in technologies and new solutions that often come from the hand of entrepreneurs and startups.
Throughout the three days, one of the startups that is part of the Opentop ecosystem, Sensing Tools, was present at the Opentop booth showing and sharing how it is growing and at the same time helping a sector that has important challenges on the table.
Without a doubt, Opentop’s participation in this 11th edition of the South Summit has been a real success for the initiative, thanks to the presence and support of a good part of the team that has been during these days sharing all the activity and purpose of Opentop, along with the support of Telefónica Open Future.
